Shear and moment diagram?

I am working on a problem where a simply supported beam is loaded with a vertical force hanging off the end of an attached bracket. When I am working this problem to find the support reactions, does it matter that the force is hanging down or can I just proceed how I would if it was acting directly on the beam?
