Is this an ear infection or ear fluid buildup?

Ok, so this has been happening for 3 months already and it still won't clear? I hear ringing in both of my ears. I hear a clicking/popping sound when I swallow or yawn. I feel pressure or fullness sometimes in one ear or the other. My hearing is muffled because of this. The other day though, my left ear managed to clear up so I could hear clearly again. The ringing calmed down on that too. But now it's back to its old self again unless I yawn enough to clear it again. I've been to the doctors once and he said he'll prescribe me something later. Meanwhile, is this an ear fluid buildup or an ear infection? No, it doesn't hurt so badly and it does not have any yellow pus coming out.
