What would Gambler's Anonymous think of this? For research purposes for creative writing.?

I heard on the radio today about something some philosopher said (I think it was Pascal) and it made me think, It said that believing in God is like gambling. You could live like you do or don't, but he doesn't exist so it doesn't matter. Or you could like like you do or don't and he does exist, therefore one action sends you up and the other sends you down. I am in a creative writing cl and would like to use this, but want to be able to use this in the right context.
