A cylinder is inscribed in a square prism. The cylinder has a diameter of 16 inches and the prism has a?

I learned this in fifth grade. I'm not 100% sure it's right, but this is how we were taught. To find the surface area of the cylinder, you take the area of the circle (top and bottom) add them together (the area of a circle is the radius ,8 in your case, mulitplied by pi). Then take the cirference mulitplied by the height of the cylinder. If the cylinder fits perfectly in the prism, it's the height of the prism. Then you add both the areas of the top and bottom to the cirference mulitiplied by the height.
